Ben Thew, LMHC, PMH-C

Trauma and Perinatal Therapist

Hitting your limit? Doom scrolling and checking out emotionally not seeming to cut it anymore? To put it mildly: the brain is weird, so it would be nice to have the tools to navigate it.

I’m Ben, and I support people stuck in a loop. Masking to fit in, feel “normal,” and then feeling ashamed when you don’t live up to that expectation. Trying to be the “good mom,” the “strong griever,” the “resilient survivor.”

Life is messy. Sometimes therapy reflects that. (That can often describe me as well!) When you search for a therapist, the last thing you want is your therapist to act like it will all fall into place if you follow simple instructions. It’s a fast track to feeling invalidated and giving up on therapy. You are unique. And therapy should reflect your uniqueness. You can find acceptance for all of you. Mess included.

As much as you’d like to obliterate the parts of yourself you dislike, my goal is not to “fix” or “stop” those parts. I’d much rather explore the roots from which they stem. Through our work together, you’ll not only find the strength that you need to face your past but look to the future with hope.

I am focused on stigmatized mental health. I’ve dedicated my practice to helping clients overcome the expectations placed on them by others.

Trauma, postpartum anxiety/depression, infertility, and perinatal loss are subjects our culture finds uncomfortable to discuss, making it hard for you to acknowledge these issues with others. It’s isolating, shameful, and disheartening.

My goal is to bring acceptance and compassion to all of these stigmatized experiences that might feel unsafe to broach.

When we work together, you won’t just get a trained therapist. You’ll get someone truly prepared to help you navigate the pits.
